Capcom, Please Put Karate Clown In ‘Street Fighter 6’
When Street Fighter IV was being concocted, Seth Killian brought up the idea of having a “Karate Clown” but the idea never came to fruition.

This year is the 35th anniversary of Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise and fighting game fans have been privy to a lot of information as a result. One juicy piece of information came in the form of early character concept art for Street Fighter III: The Next Generation where an actual velociraptor would have been made playable. The raptor was part of a series of early concepts that either got scrapped, remade into a new character for a future title or got shelved for a new fighting game.
In relation, this year is also the 25th anniversary of Capcom’s other fighting game title Rival Schools: United by Fate. The story is set in the same universe as Street Fighter with a self-contained story that centers on a string of attacks on local high schools in Aoharu City. All of the clues lead to the elite preparatory school known as Justice High, in which its student body president has captured and brainwashed many people.
Before Street Fighter IV was released, there were a couple of character concepts that were interesting but didn’t make the final cut. One of those rejected concepts was a fighter who was known as the “Karate Clown,” which Seth Killian, Street Fighter IV’s lead game designer, sketched a concept of.
Killian did tell fans to “keep hope alive for Karate Clown.”
Though Capcom is gradually revealing its base roster for the upcoming Street Fighter 6, slated to be released in 2023, there is obviously going to be seasonal DLC that includes additional characters. I’m hoping to see…
