Happy 25th to Capcom’s ‘Rival Schools’

This high school-themed fighting game exists in the ‘Street Fighter’ universe. It is truly a fighting game treasure.

November 17th, 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of a famous fighting title, one that needs to have more sequels, called Rival Schools: United By Fate. This was published and developed by Capcom and is set in the Street Fighter universe (which the Final Fight and Slam Masters series are also part of). The game hit arcades across the globe on November 17th, 1997.

The game received a console port for the PlayStation in 1998.

Rival Schools: United by Fate takes place in the fictional Japanese city called Aoharu City and its story centers on a series of attacks on local schools. Students and staff members from those schools found themselves kidnapped, too, and all clues led to the elite school known as Justice High.
