While Alone in the Dark is the progenitor of the “survival horror” genre, Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise is the matriarch. You wouldn’t see survival horror franchises such as Konami’s Silent Hill or Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within if not for Resident Evil. Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, founded Tango Gameworks.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the third direct installment of the popular franchise, launched on September 22, 1999, in Japan, on the PlayStation.

It launched in North America later that year on November 11 on the PlayStation.

The game was ported to the PC & Dreamcast in 2000 and the Gamecube in 2003.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis puts players in the control of Jill Valentine, the main heroine of the first Resident Evil game.
