Sega’s Dreamcast Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
The Dreamcast outperformed the Sony PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 in many ways. It is the one console that was FRIENDLY to the fighting game community (FGC).
On September 9, 1999, Sega launched its final console, the Dreamcast, worldwide.
I didn’t get my console until Spring 2001 when the local comic book store sold a pre-owned version for $60.00. I took the chance and bought it and it was one of the BEST decisions I made.
It is now September 10, 2024, 25 years later.
The console was overwhelming and underappreciated. As an avid fighting game fan and collector, the Dreamcast was a godsend to the fighting game community (FGC). Compared to the Sony PlayStation, the Sega Dreamcast was superior in many ways (software, graphics, and gameplay).
I already had the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation consoles but the newer games were ported onto the Sega Dreamcast.
